Think Tanks
Right now while you are sitting in your chair reading this article on your video screen there are groups of extremely intelligent future gathered together discussing your future. These people are paid by corporations, governments, and wealthy groups of individuals to arrive at solutions to problems which the bureaucratics who hired them cannot solve. At the highest orders of organization extremely complex and subtle problems plague the world. Overpopulation, hunger, education, disease just to name a few. The solutions that think tankers create will become policy implemented by the big men with the big sticks. My question is can we trust these "intelligent" specialists? Are they there in the fancy conference room, eating their catered breakfast because they love humanity and want to solve its problems? Do they see the suffering of the world and are compelled by waves of compassion to work together to alleviate the pain? Or are they smugly happy that they are getting paid large sums of money? I''d say there''s both types. \r\n\r\nThe danger here is the narcissistic intelligentsia interested only in money and power. These people work for certain wealthy and powerful groups of individuals whose sole intention is more wealth and more power. They have the money to buy the best and the brightest. I plead to these people...remember us power stupid folk down here taking up "your" space. \r\n\r\nI have idea for a think tank to beat all think tanks. We the people can use the internet to collaborate, share ideas, and come up with solutions for ourselves. What we need are millions of people engaging to solve problems. There was enormous emotional response to the tragedies of 9/11 and the Katrina disaster. Millions of people were moved to help. Why not organize our efforts with the internet to figure out solutions to problems like these? I would imagine that there are billions of people willing to help worldwide. Why wait on bureaucracies to slowly muddle through the problems? Why rely on the mercy of the wealthy elite to help alleviate the suffering of the world?
How can we organize this? I would appreciate comments and ideas on this subject.
All us humans need to help each other, whether rich or poor, powerful or weak.
If a global online think tank evolved we will solve our own problems. It would be great if current think tank employees, government officials, and elite persons would participate in this but we can do it without them.
Lets put our passion, our effort, into non-violent, intellectual capacities. Lets cease revolutions and rebellions and collectively THINK our way out of these world-wide crisis. There are ways. Ghandi's organization of individuals and groups single-handely defeated the mighty British Empire and paved the way for an independent India. Look how they have begun to blossom. We can do the same world-wide.
The power and money hoarders will resist this idea but I must assure them it is in their best interest to collaborate. If they empower all the total power of all humanity will increase their power dramatically. If only they could see this. The elites would no longer need to fear the revolution of unhappy citizens because their would be very few unhappy citizens once they are empowered and the dark cloud of fear is lifted. Together rich and poor united into one huge human family, that is my vision. Who would project this vision with me?
Who would project the vision of world-wide collaboration, deep-sea exploration, space exploration, and the eventual contact with extraterrestrial species. They are waiting on us, waiting on us to end our petty and illusory divisions. Waiting on us to be as one.
