Slow Winds of Cultural Change

In primitive times, when man only organized in small familial groups and clans, hundreds of thousands of cultures grew up, matured, and died. With a life expectancy of 30 or less it was difficult to learn and store knowledge and wisdom. Every group has a different mythos, different root idea. Simple environmental factors, or past disasters affect the belief structure. People did not have what we would call ideas. Starting from pure attention to senses the beginnings of cooperation began communication. To communicate one needs symbols to represent physical objects. Slowly ideas began to accumulate and spread. At some point some groups of individuals organized enough ideas to dominate large regions of terrain. If a group thrived and lasted for generations then habitual thought patterns would take hold among the population. As soon as a large population (even a few thousand) habituated the interconnected communication among the individuals causes organic mutation and growth of the thought patterns and individual ideas.

Each proto-culture was located in a different region leading to variable environmental factors affecting the development of the habitual thought patterns. A group of nomadic hunters will have different concerns and solutions than a group of coastal fishermen. The environmental sights that different groups see lead to different symbols for mythic abstract thought. Those groups who by chance or by fitness thrive will grow evermore complex and larger organic thought patterns. Larger and larger organizations formed. Empires rose and fell.

As the leaders of cultures expanded their sphere of sensory awareness through the organic growth of our technological body extensions such as telescopes, the compass, and ocean traveling ships ideas about the nature of world expanded as well. New data inspires new possibilities. Each culture during its life fulfills the possibilities available to it from its sensory sphere. When all possibilities are manifest the culture loses vitality and eventually petrifies and only receives vitality from the newest growing culture. The death of one culture becomes the fertile soil for the next. Sometime in the 1500s or before the realization that there is a lot more of this universe than a continent of land. We live on a globe and there are many many more globes out in the universe. Compared to the imagined size of the world suddenly the universe seemed very large indeed.

The Western European Culture was birthed with prime concept of infinite space, and the infinitesimal breaking down of the whole; infinity in both directions. This birthed a outpouring migration to North America, calculus, analysis of every aspect of the universe, typography leading to mass publication of idea bits, and perspective painting. Western European culture ventured out into this newly perceived infinite space analyzing everything as it went. This analysis led to the understanding of many phenomenon leading to the Industrial Revolution. The world became a machine world, and the universe seen as a great machine built by the Creator. Every person specialized by trade, skill, or function and became part of a huge cultural apparatus. Even the elite, the leaders, the politicians are mere cogs in the deeper aspects of organic cultural fundamentals. These cultures are not national or religious but deeper than that. They are the foundational ideas which lay deep in our psyches. The ideas of Order, of cause and effect, homogeneous parts, linear time, and purpose dominated.

But the seeds of a culture's creation is also the seed of its destruction.

The penultimate discovery of electromagnetism heralded the birth of a new dominant energy/thought pattern. This new phenomenon did not act as normal objects did. Different patterns where observed. Electromagnetism is nearly instantaneous. Many actions can be taken simultaneously. Suddenly traveling out into the infinite space becomes instantaneous. Observations of electromagnetism has birthed a new seed concept. Infinite Time. There is enough time for an infinite number of spaces. Simultaneous infinite spaces. Every subjective reality is objective in some part of infinite time. Think of the cultural artifacts that are here symbolizing this concept. Television and motion pictures create in your mind a virtual world for a short time. We experience emotion while in these virtual worlds. Anyone can manifest their vision and broadcast it instantaneously to everyone simultaneously. Its called YouTube. Virtual Reality is on the near horizon. The movie the Matrix resonates with our culture. The Internet is the outering of our nervous system into technological, physical space. It is literally an extension of our body. All knowledge is at our fingertips. Now the entire collective intellectual, and more importantly, visionary potential of every human being can be manifested at an ever accelerating pace. Soon networked swarms of nanobots will be able to manifest any vision instantly, physically, literally.

No longer is there a great machine universe ticking along in perfect order. What we see now is an infinity of possibilities simultaneously existing in an infinity of spaces. The limiting factor is your vision, your ability to collapse the quantum flux of possibilities. Together we can visualize ourselves out of this broken machine world before it explodes.

The world is simultaneously one unified culture and a interweaving of millions of smaller cultural units. Families, friends, business networks, corporations, clubs, guilds, armies, churches, 10 homeless people under a bridge, all are part of expanding circles of culture.

What is happening now is not necessarily the death of the western culture but its unshackling from the residue of the greco-roman and judeo-christian-islamic culture. The native culture of Paganism and worship of nature and Mother Earth was repressed by the invading culture of judeo-christian religion. Judeo-Christian-Islamic culture, or as Spengler calls them, Magian culture partially suppressed native Northern European culture. The greco-roman root concepts of body (materialism), finity as euclidean geometry, and militaristic conquest (patriarchal hierarchy) still infect our civilization.

Apocalyptic thought always arises in a culture that is near death. This occurred before the fall of the Roman civilization and again around 1000 AD right before the birth of the current Western European culture. Hebrew apocalyptic texts began appearing before their demise. Each wave was followed by the birth of a new culture. Our current culture is again experiencing a wave of apocalyptic thought. Unconsciously everyone knows the culture is dying. A new one is being born.

The explosion of electric technology and thinking, with root concepts of infinite time completes our journey of infinite space. We discover infinite spacetime. The American Culture has been born, and is growing up fast. Mechanically minded, hierarchical, linear-time bound, cause and effect thought patterns are but a sliver of the potential of infinite visionary quantum spacetime flux collapse. No need for conquest if there's infinite space and time. Infinite space and infinite time unify the duality of male/female. Notice the steadily increase of equality between men and women over the past 100 years. Any person can manifest their vision. Petty differences mean nothing. The only differentiation is the expansiveness of one's vision.

The American Counter-Culture of the 1960s was just the tip of the iceberg. This is not a leftist hippie movement but something much more profound. The hippies were only one manifestation of deep yearnings, deep ideas, rising to the surface.

Fresh ideas are swelling up and the dikes are past overflowing worldwide. This is why the old hierarchical establishment is afraid and communicating that fear to us. They are losing power not through force but by their less efficient, outmoded habitual cultural thought patterns. Their vitality is waning and the limbs of the tree will fall in the high winds that nature provides from time to time.

Welcome to infinite spacetime and the Visionary Age.
