Ocean of Images
What is an image? My usage of the word in this website defines an image as any of the following words: thoughts ,ideas, memories, a visual sensory snapshot, beliefs, and symbols.
We swim in an ocean of images. How did this come to be?
It appears that sometime in the distant past the human being arose on this planet. Many scientists feel that we have virtually the same brain and sensory organs for at least 100,000 years. Basically although we have much more knowledge available now, our ancient ancestors had a similar sensory and neurological capabilities. This means that using their eyes and other senses these ancient individuals took visual sensory snapshots and stored these images as memories. In order that individuals may communicate their seeings verbal uttering began to be used as image connotators. Each grouping of individuals would work out their own system of utterings to communicate various sights, objects, actions etc...
Our ancient ancestors swam in the fierce storms and currents of physical sensations confronting constant survival situations. Rudimentary languages which on members of a clan or tribe may share began to make possible some level of understanding between individuals. Symbols began to be used to convey information about events, hierarchy, objects, animals, and locations. At some point some individuals begin to create images not based on direct sensory input. The mind seeks to understand causes of the phenomenon around them. The cause of a great many phenomenon is not visually apparent to the naked eye. Slowly religion awakens. Priests attend to these images with intent focus. They are the first to realize the great power of image projection and propagation. Physical perception and sensation slowly subsides to subjective created image sets (belief systems).
The spoken word was the first technology by which man was able to let go of his environment in order to grasp it in a new way.

And then BOOM!!!!
The Phonetic alphabet revolutionizes the thought of man worldwide in the most profound manner. Simple visual symbols represent simple syllables. The Phoneticians where a sea-faring trading culture. In order to record transactions done between themselves and the hundreds of cultures, each with its own language and some with no written language, they developed the alphabet. Now it is possible to learn and teach other tribes languages much easier. Their words and their translations could be written together using the same alphabet. All languages can be understood and written using one alphabet. National languages develop as the Greek, Latin, and others cultures implement the idea of an syllabic based symbolic written language. These languages are capable of describing an entire nation, empire, or even world-wide scale perceptions.
Now all ideas or images spawned by any individual or culture can be communicated worldwide. Naturally the number of belief systems, ideas, and philosophies mushrooms.
This leads to the objective perception of thought and object oriented thought patterns. Every object has properties and methods. Integration of attribute and action. International organizations form and spread unbeknown to the mass of people. There are individual consciousnesses now on the planet that have seen a completely worldwide perspective. All ideas worldwide are accessible and synthesized.
Now the images in this not so Pacific ocean are nearing limitlessness. Hurricanes of thought forms sweep masses of people in decades and years. Articles, books, essays, cartoons, movies, tv, commercials, YouTube, and on and on.....Incredible content forms weaving together and forming new complex unconscious thought patterns whose conscious, physical manifestation may come quicker than we think. The externalized mind''s speed is accelerating....like from Pony Express to Fiber Optic Cable.....
Have any of us had an original thought? I think we sense patterns, label them, objectify them, and then call it an idea or thought...The thought is not original....its a representation of patterns in possible existence for eternity. So we swim in this universe of thought and encounter streams which we swim down and call this "Thoughts that we have." We have....HA!!!! No separate patterns in reality, just snapshots of synthesense.
Now what the Internet BA-BOOM!!! All ideas worldwide simultaneously and near instantaneously available for consideration, analysis, and synthesis.
Does our synthesensactia occur consciously and objectively. A image is generally considered to be objectively true when its truth conditions are "mind-independent"—that is, not the result of any judgments made by a conscious entity. Hearing the truth from anyone is rare because many lie for personal gain or image, or if they are honest they simply don''t know what they''re talking about.
In this electronic age we see ourselves being translated more and more into the form of information, moving toward the technological extension of consciousness.
