Acceptance
A new phrase has entered the American Cultural Landscape. Resistance is victory. The spoken word song at the end of a Flobots album is where I first heard it. I'm sure that it has a long history. My interpretation of this phrase is that what is being resisted is unwanted mental thought patterns. One group of individuals dominates the mass of people first through force, but as the culture develops thought control moves the physical force into the background. The threat of force in people's minds keeps them in line. Physical resistance only succeeds when the majority of the people sacrifice their lives and storm the palace, or a small covert force with the support of the entire community. With out this the technically superior dominators will maintain hold.
I observe that the vast majority of people would prefer no bloodshed to achieve their goals of freedom, rights, equality, and basically stop being screwed and treated as slaves. Several non-violent movements, Ghandi's and Martin Luther King's for example, have succeeding at least some of their goals peacefully. The ruling establishment will compromise when they have to to maintain power. Power. This is both their greatest strength and greatest weakness. For resistance can be acted out in two ways. One is direct assault as I mentioned before, and another more subtle way. To See, and Tai Chi.
Through education, and media the mass of the population is programmed to follow a path which enables a greedy elite to maintain power. What you see as manipulation, I see as learning. In time people will learn about propaganda and manipulation by being manipulated and screwed. Some just learn faster than others. The pioneers express their thoughts and are laughed at. But they persist. Only after they have died does it become obvious to the mass the truth of the matter. True teachers do not teach for reward now but for the good of people they will never meet.
My writing to you affects you even if only slightly or subtly. This pebble in the waters of your lake spreads through you and ripples through the family, friends, and everyone you interact with. Multiply this effect by millions and you can see.....A thunderstorm is not caused by a single cause. Slowly billions of tiny electrical events reach a tipping point creating a higher order energy pattern, spontaneously.
Every message broadcast itself is a small event and each of these events has a small effect. The deeper change happens as a thunderstorm. Slowly these small events add up and reach a tipping point. Cultures change and grow in this manner.
The very manipulation of the media, the creators of the content, are themselves morphing.....they are parts of the greater culture which is evolving. The power of the wave of culture always trumps an individual. You are who you are based on choices...but your set of choices is limited by the culture. The set of choices is changing.
The time for fear and doubt is past. We are IN the visionary age. The vision you project becomes reality PERIOD. You can see this in everyone's life. Those who project a dismal vision, create a dismal life. Those you give up hope and visualize themselves as worthless, create it. In my vision it is the seer's duty to not judge individuals, but to have compassion, to uplift, directly if you're lucky, but most often subtly through small actions and words, seeds planted that given soil, water and light may grow and bear fruit. As plants take time, attention, and care so does teaching.
Have you given up? Are you satisfied with a vision of fear? Do you project the mass vision of apocalypse and doom? Is this the vision you choose to manifest?
I don't think so.
Every single objectified (arbitrarily bounded abstraction) unit, or in other words objects, events (fortunate or unfortunate), ideas, knowledge, and memories can be used as a tool; with the right perspective of course. Would it not be better to use all you see as a tool to project your vision?
The tradition of Tai Chi is to use one''s adversaries energy against him and therefore defeat him. Reflect and deflect, instant karma.
As princess Leia says to the general of the Death Star in Star Wars "The more you tighten your grip, the more systems slip through your fingers."
So this type of resistance is really an acceptance of what is. As you sense clearly the world around you and the situations you're in, accept them fully as what is. This acceptance allows you to use event, every confrontation, every idea as a tool. A tool for learning, for teaching, for changing via reflecting and deflecting. No violence is necessary. Rebellion only defeats your purpose. The natural acceptance and projection of vision based on comprehension of reality changes reality toward the vision.
Together we can project a vision of peace, harmony, intelligence, and cooperative organization.
